LOS ANGELES -- TV viewers expressed shock today upon learning the new Fox sitcom, That 80s Showwas not some kind of joke and is actually going to go on the air soon.
    "At first I thought they weren't serious [after seeing the ads]. I guess, deep down inside, I just couldn't let myself believe it was really true," said a viewer who described himself as "terrified and afraid" at the concept of the new series.
    The upstart network began airing ads for the show after the Christmas holidays, hoping the midseason replacement could ride on the popularity of Fox's other sitcom that takes place a decade earlier.
    Some Polynesian Island tribes have already begun making sacrifices to the volcano gods to ward off pestilence after recieving word of the news.
    Fox is already rumored to be discussing plans with studios for That 90s Show and That 1870s Show.
