Cuba Demands Embargo End; US Demands Cuba Collapse May 14th, 2002
HAVANA, CUBA -- In a historic meeting today between Cuban dicatator Fidel Castro and former US President Jimmy Carter, Castro demanded an end to the crippling, long-standing US embargo of Cuba and Carter urged that Cuba collapse just to get it over with.
"There's no sense in delaying it," said Carter. "You'll only make it worse every day that you put off the inevitable."
Carter praised Cuban citizens in their native tongue for somehow hanging in there during the 40-year Castro reign of that country.
