Cuba Protests US Sale Of Arms To US

HAVANA, CUBA -- Quick on China's heals, Cuba today said it denounced the recent McDonnell Douglas sale of 15 F/A-18 Hornet aircraft from the United States to the nearby United States, a country with which Cuban relations are exceptionally poor.
"We consider these offensive weapons," said Cuban Interests section chief Fernando Remirez, "The government of the US must not allow American contractors to sell them to the United States Military."
Diplomatic relations across the Cuban-American strait have long been strained. Communist Cuba maintains that the United States is a corrupt province contaminated by democracy and capitalism.
Many Cubans seemed to agree. "Do you have any bread?" said Roberto Fernadenz, 46, fisherman, "Please!? My children are starving."
