Bush Calls For Faith-Based Energy PlanMay 18th, 2001
CONESTOGA, PA -- President George W. Bush, on the road campaigning for his own energy plan, unveiled a new, key component to the strategy today.
"Californians can pray for lower energy costs," said Bush, promising it would lead to a "brighter energy future." The plan, drafted by a task force headed by Vice President Dick Cheney was criticized failed to address short run problems at all. The president emphasized that prayer was the only way to reduce cost crises over the summer. "I've always said people need to pray more, and this is just another example of how prayer can help with real world problems, like federal policy making," said Attorney General Ashcroft, who holds group prayer sessions in his office on a daily basis. Speaking of critics who say the plan is of questionable Constitutionality and econometric merit, Bush said, "When you hear these folks -- it doesn't matter what side of the debate they're on -- who are willing to kind of castigate somebody who may have a good idea, stand up and let them have it.'" |
