Lessons of The Vietnam War Found in Dumpster Behind White House May 3rd, 2004
WASHINGTON, DC -- Important lessons learned from US involvement in the Vietnam war were found in a dumpster behind 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, a local resident reported.
"'You cannot manipulate the battlefield the same way you can manipulate the public.' It's all right here, and it was thrown out," said Washington, DC resident Erik Keppler. He said the discarded maxims also warded against "caring more about the military than its soldiers" and "jingoistic wishful thinking in making life-or-death decisions."
"It's astonishing because these lessons were so expensive, to find the idea that 'wars should have a reason' in the garbage next to a broken flower pot and a Bananarama tape."
