Gale Norton Speaks At NRA Rally

KANSAS CITY, MO -- Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton delivered the key note address at the NRA's (National Rifle Association) 130th annual convention yesterday, paying thanks to those she said "helped President Bush win the election." She referred to the NRA as, "America's unsung conservation heroes."
The Secretary drew applause when she spoke about going skeet shooting with the President at Camp David. "He's a pretty good shot," she said. "I, on the other hand, am a work in progress."
The group has blasted the struggling McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill, which would limit their ability to place paid candidate endorsements. NRA president Wayne LaPierre said, "If we have to, we'll launch the good ship NRA, and we'll drop anchor in international waters just off the coast, and we'll broadcast the truth from our own TV towers."
The NRA's membership is currently at an all time high, recently unseating the AARP as the most influential group in American politics according to a Fortune magazine survey.
