Bush Service: We Have a Lip Service Debt to Iraqis May 25th, 2004
WASHINGTON, DC -- President Bush addressed the nation last night, acknowledging the tremendous debt of lip service the people of Iraq are owed. The President's approval ratings slipped to their lowest levels ever last week as the war in Iraq appeared to further falter, calling for some to call for a call for action.
"The Iraqi people have been wronged, and we do anything, including talking about it, to make their lives better," Bush said in his nationally televised address.
GOP leaders are citing a powerful rhetorical commitment to the Iraqi people. Said Sen. Lamar Alexander, "The number of words we will expend in this effort will put any other conflict to shame, and I don't care what anyone says.
