Kerry's Wife Too Rich to Be First Lady, Say Critics June 1st, 2004
WASHINGTON, DC -- Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry's wife is coming under fire from conservative critics who say that she is too rich to be America's first lady.
"Kerry's wife is so rich, how can she be expected to be an effective First Lady?" commentator Max Boot asked rhetorically on NBC's Meet the Press Live. "She is going to be out of touch with what the average American needs in a first lady."
Teresa Heinz-Kerry would be America's wealthiest first lady ever, worth nearly all of the Bush cabinet put together.
