WASHINGTON, DC -- John Roberts promised more baseball metaphors as he
was confirmed by the full Senate this morning.
"If you've got a base-runner on third, you need a base umpire, as well as a regular umpire, to make sure that no one steals second," Roberts told reporters today.
"It's important that a Chief Justice be versed in all forms of metaphor," said Kenya Clauson, a judicial scholar at the University of Chicago. "Antonin Scalia, for instance, compares himself to Napolean, and Clarence Thomas compares himself to Antonin Scalia."
