Pressure Grows for Bush to Distract Media September 30th, 2005
WASHINGTON, DC -- As longtime ally Tom DeLay was forced out of his post as House Majority Leader after being indicted on conspiracy charges this week, pressure is growing for the Bush administration to distract the media, incidentally by nominating another Supreme Court justice.
"After a record short time in nominating Roberts as Karl Rove was indicted, and then suprisingly nominating Roberts for Chief Justice... with DeLay in trouble, the next Supreme Court Justice will have to have the right experience to effectively distract the media," said Loraine Schebler, a legal scholar from Northeastern University.
"He could claim to be a 'moon baby', or hear commands from extra-terrestial advisors. That would grab some headlines," said a republican strategist speaking under condition of anonymity. "That's what's important right now."
